23-26 May

What a week...we've had a few severe storms there that were interesting to watch.  Luckily we didn't have any damage, but there was some around the region.

23 May:
Monday's storm:  sirens were going off...we actually pulled down Peppy's travel cage and put it in bathroom in case we needed to seek cover.

24 May:
Dino is starting to take over the household, now that he knows Mark is leaving...

25 May:
More storms...we were to the south of the major damage.  This time we actually put Peppy in the bathroom in case we needed to move quickly.  The hail we sustained was nickel sized, while those about 5 miles north got softballs...

26 May:
The rainbow after the storm.  We are suppose to get a few days reprieve this weekend...

20-22 May 11

Wow, it's almost the end of May!  We actually had 2 days without rain...in a row!  Friday and Saturday were absolutely wonderful.  I played lots of golf on some new courses (Sugar Valley CC and Dayton CC) with some of the other ladies from NCR (figures, I'm leaving so I make friends).

20 May:  I couldn't decide...  I know the front flower is out of focus, that's part of why I like it...

21 May:  The pines are putting out their new growth.  I don't think I captured the color difference that is present between last year and this year.

22 May:  A little early for the US Open, but I needed something to take a picture of!

19 May

I'm actually going to get a picture on the blog the day it was taken!  A miracle...

I'm not exactly thrilled with this, as I couldn't get rid of the over-exposed area on the battery.

14-18 May

Yes, I'm behind.  I'm just trying to keep my head above water right now.  No word on my report date.  For a group that wants me soonest, they sure are taking a long time making a decision.  Maybe I'm being unreasonable, but it's not like I can just pull up and leave tomorrow.

14 May:  Goofing off.  We managed to avoid the raindrops playing golf after all.  I was trying to take a picture of peppy taking the cork from my hand.  It wasn't working, but this is a cool perspective.

15 May:  Time to take pictures of the house to get it out on the Housing Referral Network.  Maybe someone will bite.  Tomorrow the new landscape design shows up, so it a few weeks (hopefully) this will look a bit differently.

16 May:   more rain drops on leaves...

17 May:  New leaves on my orchid.  Not sure of the type since I got it out of bloom...hopefully it will survive in UT (more importantly the trip out there...)

18 May:  I could decide on which I liked better, so it's both!

12-13 May

There have been a few long nights this week, with all that's going on.  Plus when it isn't raining, we are trying to get some golf in after work.  Makes for a late dinner.

12 May:  We played golf...so we had Cacio e Pepe for dinner.  There's a great recipe in this month's Bon Appetit (click on link to access)

13 May:  More robin's nests near the house.  This mom didn't move for the longest time while I was taking these pictures.

10-11 May

11 May:
Iris at Cox Arboretum.  If only the rain here in Dayton would stop...however, the flowers are looking good.

10 May:

There's a good chance I'll be needing this atlas a bit more....

Brown-Head Cowbird

This guy was sitting in my front yard this afternoon when we got home.  He didn't startle too easily as we pulled up and walked closer to him.

6-7 May

6 May:
I was taking the picture of the anhinga preening and didn't realize the turtle was sitting there watching him until post-processing....

Magnolia in bloom:

7 May:
We spent the night in Asheville (twice in one year, although this time we never made it to downtown)...driving home on I-40, the fog came in to greet us:

1-5 May

If April showers bring May flowers, what does May showers bring?  It's still raining...This has been a crazy year for weather.

1 May:  Today was Pastor Tom's last day at Peace Lutheran.  He was there 25 years of his 38 years as an ordained pastor...a lot of people suffered from 'allergies' in the congregation this morning.  Unfortunately, my pics from his retirement luncheon aren't the best so this will have to do:

2 May:  Boggle...I found a phrase and not a word, hopefully it still counts!

3 May:  We were SUPPOSE to fly to Hilton Head on the 4th...emphasis on 'suppose to'.  That rain thing got in the way again (plus the below freezing temps at altitude) keep us on the ground.  So we drove...  This is a grape leaf at Jean Farris Winery and Bistro in Lexington....at least we got to pick up our spring wine club shipment.

4 May:  15th Anniversary...I am one lucky woman.  Mark was very patient as I was trying to take this picture.

5 May:  Golf at Belfair Plantation, on # 14 East Course...
