30 Aug:  One of my new orchids...a mini harlequin

I ended up getting 3 this weekend, this one, a green/yellow one and a white, all phalaenopsis (moth orchids).  I brought the white one into the office for some pizzaz, but have gotten awe that I even dare have one.  Hopefully there's enough light in the office.

Yes!  I got a hummingbird...

Taken from my kitchen window at the feeder hanging from the deck covering.  Slight crop to get rid of some dead space, but not blown-up.

The reason I joined a country club...despite the fact that I went out following a quite a few foursomes (tee sheet was filled prior to me), it was still only a 3:40 round...why can't public courses do that?

I played the white tees (6450 yds) to get an better perspective of what Mark would play, boy was it different from the front (5400 yds)... I think I'll stick to the gold (5900 yrds)

#9: Par 3, from here it's a carry over some scrub, only forced carry on course, even from other tees, it's a large gully, but filled with grass.

#13 from tee...there are a lot of narrow drives, with wide landing areas.

25 Aug 11 (Birthday Gift)

Here's what I got for my birthday....

I bit the bullet and joined the local country club.  Playing a round after work in about 2.5 hours was worth the price alone...

22-24 Aug

22 Aug:  I travel to Dayton for a meeting on the 23rd...had to stay at the Hope Hotel, of the Dayton Peace Accords fame.  They still had old fashioned keys...

23 Aug:  Got home late from traveling, actually arrived on time at the airport, just took forever to get to car.    I did get to fly the day prior, so I entered it into my log:

24 Aug:  I came home to a pile of feathers... I think Peppy was trying to tell me she was in need of a bath, so I dug through the boxes and found her perch, which conveniently stays put on these walls...she really enjoyed it!

20-21 Aug

20 Aug: oops, didn't get one posted last night!  Spent the day trying to get through some of the boxes...I at least got Mark's desk and computer up, so I could pay bills!  I also spent way too much time  re-arranging furniture ( i didn't even play golf). By the time, I was done with chatting with Mark, this was all I could come up with.  I've done better, much better.

21 Aug:  Played golf and went for a hike up Adams Canyon.  There were a few times I didn't know how I was going to get back down, but I made it...although I think I'll pay for it tomorrow.

19 Aug ( Moving Day)

Well today started out painful...movers didn't show up till just after 1100.  Not a good start, when I wanted most of the stuff unpacked to get rid of the papers and boxes.

To top it off, a storm was threatening all morning...

Found in the far corner of one of the many cabinets in the kitchen...a little sibling to our martini glasses (the bigger one is my original).  Actually found two of them.  I guess the former owners had similar tastes to us!

Well, as of today, 14 Aug, Mark is in Iraq and I am in UT.

30 Jul:  Using up the last of the banana and pumpkin puree left in the freezer.  Not a bad banana-pumpkin-pecan bread.  Maybe I can be a baker afterall...

31 Jul:  our last round on NCR South with Brian and Miki...

12 Aug:  Rita and I went to Antelope Island, located about 7 miles into the Great Salt Lake.  We saw bison and antelope and some really neat views.  This will be a great place to do some photos over the course of the year, especially given the bird migrations through the region.

13 Aug:  I was hoping to get a photo of the full moon over the mountains, but there were too many clouds, so I got a cool sunset instead.  Yes, the sky was that orange.
